Anna Webber
Saxophonist/composer Anna Webber (*1984 Vancouver, Canada) first studied piano and cello before she went over to the flute, alto and tenor saxophone. She studied music at McGill University in Montreal and moved to New York City in 2008. Webber holds master’s degrees from both Manhattan School of Music and the Jazz Institute Berlin where she studied with, among others, Jason Moran, John Hollenbeck and Mark Turner. She has worked with such influential players as Ben Street, Dave Douglas, and Adam Hopkins. In 2014 Anna Webber won the BMI Foundation Charlie Parker Composition Prize. She is the leader of the Berlin septet Percussive Mechanics, who have recorded two albums for Pirouet.
