Jorge Rossy
Drummer, vibraphonist, pianist and composer Jorge Rossy (b.1964 Barcelona, Spain) has been one of the most successful drummers in jazz over the last quarter century. After his move to NYC in 1991, Rossy found himself playing drums with the likes of Woody Shaw, Joe Lovano, Chick Corea, Kenny Wheeler, and Charlie Hayden. Rossy’s musical connections to such major players as Chris Cheek Mark Turner, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Seamus Blake date back to the beginning of the 90’s and continue through to the present. From 1994 to 2005 he was an essential part of the most influential piano trio of that period, The Brad Mehldau Trio. On his return to Barcelona Rossy began focusing on piano and vibraphone. His current Vibes Quintet features such renowned musicians as drummer Al Foster, bassist Doug Weiss, saxophonist Mark Turner, and guitarist Peter Bernstein.
